The moong dal is very beneficial to health.Hence, it is recommended to include moong dal in our diet.
The ingredients of moong dal are:
INGREDIENTS
- Moong dal - 2 tbsp
- Onions, finely chopped - 1 small
- Tomato, chopped - 1 small
- Ginger, finely chopped or grated - 1/2 inch
- Red chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Coriander leaves- 2-3
- Water - 1 cup
- Salt - to taste
- For tempering:
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp - Garlic, crushed lightly - 2 cloves
- Garam masala powder - 1/4 tsp
- Red chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
- Green chilli - 1
- Asafoetida - a pinch
- Oil - 1 tsp
DIRECTIONS
- Take all the ingredients listed under main ingredients except salt in a pressure cooker. Stir well and pressure cook till the dal is cooked and soft. Once the pressure settles down, remove the lid and stir the dal. If the dal looks thick, then add some water and simmer for 1-2 minutes. Add salt and keep aside.
- In a small pan, heat oil and first fry the cumin seeds, then add the garlic and green chilli and fry for some seconds, but don't brown the garlic. Switch off the flame and now add the garam masala powder, red chilli powder and asafoetida.
- Stir and immediately pour the tempering mixture in the dal. stir the moong dal , garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot moong dal with steamed brown rice or chapatis.
